Glendale, Ariz. - The Valley's own Foot Klan will represent the state of Arizona in The 2007 USA Hip Hop Championship, held on July 25-26 in Los Angeles. The competition is billed as "the most exciting street dance competition that is true to the real values of hip hop." The group is currently seeking sponsorships to help defray costs of traveling to and participating in the competition.
Several five- to eight-member crews from across the United States will be competing by serving up "old school" and "new school" moves in two-minute hip hop dance performances with the goal of winning the U.S. title and advancing to the World Championship. The top six U.S. teams advance to the world championship, where dancers from more than 20 countries compete July 28 - 29.
A major component of the World Hip Hop Championship is the World Battle, a state-of-the-art breaking competition for the top bboy/bgirl crews, held on July 29. The five-day event includes panel discussions with respected living legends and icons of Hip Hop dance, a funk styles room for traditional old schoolers, popping and locking competition and the Urban Moves dance workshops presented by the most celebrated hip hop dancers and choreographers.
Foot Klan has been entertaining audiences worldwide for more than 17 years, with members dancing weekly on national television and at concerts, special events, sports venues, trade shows and more, including the MAGIC International Fashion Show in Las Vegas twice a year. This full-service, international award-winning group includes professional dancers, choreographers, champion martial artists and fitness trainers, college professors, videogame rendering artists, DJ's, actors, models, rappers and singing artists.
Foot Klan's mission is to unify communities through street dance and creative arts. By removing the negative stereotypes from the Hip Hop culture, Foot Klan is generating a higher awareness of the impact that positive creativity has on an artistically aspiring community.
