PAW PLACEMENT HOSTS 'TRAIL TREK 2007' ON FEB. 24, AT ARIZONA HORSE LOVERS PARK


FUNDRAISER INCLUDES HIKE, SILENT AUCTION, ENTERTAINMENT, CANINE COMPETITIONS, ADOPTIONS

PHOENIX - On Saturday, Feb. 24, Arizona Horse Lovers Park on Tatum just south of the 101 Freeway will become "Dog Lovers Park" during the Fifth Annual Paw Placement "Trail Trek," which will feature a canine hike, silent auction, dog competitions, raffles and the opportunity to adopt dogs from several rescue groups across the Valley.

The event runs from 8 a.m. to noon, rain or shine, at 19224 N. Tatum Blvd. The hike for both "two-legged" and "four-legged" friends begins at a 10 a.m.

Registration is $20 for anyone 13 and older, with children under 13 free. Anyone who collects $20 or more in donations for this non-profit organization receives one free admission. Individuals who collect $100 or more receive 10 raffle tickets. Collect $250 or more, and receive 20 raffle tickets; or collect $500 or more and receive 30 raffle tickets. Additionally, anyone who brings a bag of dog food will receive a raffle ticket.
Events include family-friendly entertainment and canine competitions for "Best Dog Costume," "Hiker/Dog Look-A-Like," "Best Trick," "Most Obedient," "Most Agile," "Smallest Pooch" and "Biggest Buddy." Free "human" food and drinks will be available.

Nine rescue groups will be on hand with dogs and horses available for adoption at the event. Registered groups include: Mixed up Mutts, AZ Cocker Rescue, Akita Rescue, MASH Unit, Animal Care and Control Bus, Amazing Aussie Rescue, Luv Shack, Horse Rescue, Boxer Luv Rescue and PACC911. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact and hike with the rescue dogs during the event as well as adopt on-site. Adoption fees and restrictions will apply. Additionally, do not miss the "Kissing Booth" where attendees can snuggle a litter of puppies. Several other organizations will have booths on-site.

"Trail Trek" is Paw Placement's annual fundraiser, and the group raised $13,000 at last year's event. Paw Placement accepts donation by mail or online anytime.
